Youth at Abu Dhabi Festival

The 20th edition of Abu Dhabi Festival continues to invest in the potential of our nation’s youth, empowering them to realise their dreams and ambitions by providing a platform for innovative ideas to materialise, for free creative thinking to thrive, and for new talent to emerge and prosper. The Festival rewards excellence with the ADMAF Awards ceremony, nurtures creativity with the Riwaq Al Fikr talk series, and presents opportunities for Emirati artists to showcase their exceptional talents both at home and abroad, often sharing the stage alongside the world’s most renowned performers.

Young Musicians- Master Classes with Juan Diego Florez

Emirati singers Rashed Al Nuaimi and Fatima El Hashimi received valuable one-on-one training with the renowned opera tenor, learning new techniques to achieve a broader vocal range and increase vocal flexibility. Both rising stars in their own right, Rashed and Fatima gained first-hand knowledge from one of opera’s biggest stars as part of the initiative which seeks to empower young people to explore careers in music and equip them with the skills and confidence needed to succeed.

Festival in Focus with Juan Diego Florez

Festival in Focus inspires our nation’s youth by providing hands-on learning opportunities with the world’s leading artists. As part of this year’s edition, high school and university students attended open rehearsals for Juan Diego Florez and Friends and gained extensive insight through a unique behind-the-scenes look at how star musicians and ensembles prepare ahead of a spectacular show.

Young Media Leaders

This evening’s performance of Juan Diego and Friends will be covered and documented by the 18 students (14 of which are Emirati) enrolled in the Young Media Leaders programme. Now in its 16th edition, the Festival’s initiative supports young emerging media leaders and contributes to the development of the UAE’s media industry through workshops and discussions with prominent experts in the field.

Artist’s Studio

Interviews with the artists conducted by members of the Young Media Leaders programme will be recorded and made available as part of our Artist’s Studio initiative which shares the experiences of world-renowned artists to provide young people with a resource to learn from legends.  

Emirati Artists on stage

Rashed Al Nuaimi is an Emirati singer and actor. Graduated from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music with an MFA in musical theatre. Rashed was honored to open for World Expo 2020 Dubai ceremony with his rendition of the UAE National Anthem. The ceremony was broadcasted to 430 locations across UAE and watched by 6 million viewers around the globe. He is also cast in the soon-to-release animated musical feature Catsaway, in which he plays the lead.

Over the years of his artistic exploration through various mediums including film and music, Rashed has risen as an influential artist in the GCC and a symbol of creativity as he continues to inspire the youth of the United Arab Emirates.

María Pagés and director El Arbi El Harti engaged students of the Sharjah Performing Arts Academy in a thought-provoking debate about the creative, intellectual and reflective process that takes place within the legendary dancer’s Company following a screening of the documentary entitled “Las tribulaciones de Maria”
