Reader in Strategy & Policy
Dr Kamal Munir is a Professor of Strategy & Policy at the Cambridge Judge Business School. His research focuses on institutional change at organizational and societal levels and also spans inequality in organizations and philanthropy. He has published articles in leading organisational and technology journals and presented his work at numerous international conferences.
His work has been cited in many forums, including BBC’s Hard Talk, World Economic Forum, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Wired magazine, and BusinessWeek. Dr Munir has consulted for the State Bank of Pakistan, the World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank. In the private sector he served as a consultant and trainer for several leading organisations and regularly conducts Strategy Offsites for wide ranging firms.
Dr Munir is a Visiting Professor in Economic Sociology at LUMS, Pakistan, where he previously served as Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Executive Director of the Centre for Strategic Philanthropy
Clare Woodcraft is the Executive Director of the Centre for Strategic Philanthropy at the Cambridge Judge Business School. She has over 27 years’ experience in the field of socio-economic development in emerging markets.
She is the former CEO of Emirates Foundation, the national foundation of the UAE, where she led the organization’s transition from traditional grant-making to a Venture Philanthropy model. She is the former Chair of the Arab Foundations Forum, and earlier served as Deputy Director of Shell Foundation. Prior, she was the Regional Director of Communications for Royal Dutch Shell in the Middle East and North Africa overseeing the company’s social investment and also headed Visa International’s public affairs arm in emerging markets. She writes and speaks extensively on the paradigm shift in the philanthropic sector.
Woodcraft is a fluent Arabic and French speaker with a BA in Modern Languages and a MSc in Development from LSE.
University Senior Lecturer in Marketing
Dr Eden Yin is a member of the American Marketing Association, INFORMS, AIB and the Academy of Marketing Science. He has taught both undergraduate and graduates, as well as business executives, in the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Australia, Finland, Denmark, Brazil and Argentina.
Previously Eden taught strategic marketing at the University of Southern California and principles of marketing and internet marketing at the Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles prior to joining Cambridge Judge Business School.

Professor Jaideep Prabhu is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Marketing, Customer Needs and Solutions, and BMJ Innovations. He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Product Innovation Management, the advisory board of Journal of Management Studies and The Schmalenbach Business Review, and is a member of the senior advisory board of the European Journal of Marketing.
He has consulted with or taught executives from ABN Amro, Bertelsmann AG, BRAC, British Telecom, the UK’s Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), EDS, Egg, IBM, ING Bank, Laird, the NHS, Nokia, Oce Copiers, Philips, Roche, Shell, Vodafone and Xerox among other organisations in Colombia, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland, UK and US. He has been interviewed by or has had his work profiled on BBC News 24, The New York Times, MIT Sloan Management Review, BusinessWeek, US News & World Report, The Financial Times, Le Monde, The Times, The Times of India, The Economic Times, Anglia News, The Asian Age, The Deccan Chronicle, The Statesman, The Calcutta Telegraph, Exec Digital and elsewhere.

University Lecturer in Strategy & Organisation
Dr Lionel Paolella is a University Lecturer at Cambridge Judge Business School, and an Affiliated Faculty at Harvard Law School (Center on Legal Profession). He graduated from Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan (ENS) in France, after which he took a MA in Sociology at Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), a MS in Management and Organization Science (University Paris X), and a PhD in Strategy (HEC Paris). Before joining the University of Cambridge, he was a visiting scholar at the University of Chicago (Booth Graduate School of Business) in 2011, and a Chazen visiting scholar at Columbia University (Graduate School of Business) between September 2012 and December 2013.
Lionel’s main line of research explores how market categories – a set of firms that share cognitive and cultural similarities – affect the social evaluation and performance of organisations, e.g. in the international legal services market or the Islamic banking industry.
Lionel currently teaches the core Strategy course in the MBA curriculum, and he is also involved in Executive Education programmes (Strategy, General Management, Professional Service Firms). He received the Cambridge Judge Teaching Award in 2017, the MBA Faculty of the Year Award in 2018, and he has been listed among the Best 40 under 40 Professors by Poets and Quants in 2019.
Grenville Diageo Professor in Organisation Studies
Professor Howard-Grenville’s work has been published in Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Organization Science, Academy of Management Annals, Organization Studies, Research Policy, Journal of Industrial Ecology and several other journals. She is the author of Corporate Culture and Environmental Practice (Edward Elgar, 2007), which documents her nine-month ethnography of environmental practice change at the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturer, and co-author or editor of three other books.
Professor Howard-Grenville teaches on the topics of organisational change, environmental sustainability, and organisational culture to executive audiences, as well on MBA, EMBA, and undergraduate courses. As Director of Cambridge Judge Business School’s PhD Programme, she also mentors and teaches PhD and Research MPhil students.
Professor Howard-Grenville currently serves as Deputy Editor for one of the management field’s top journals (Academy of Management Journal), where she previously served as Associate Editor (2013-2016). She serves as an Editorial Review Board member of the Academy of Management Journal (since 2010), Administrative Science Quarterly (since 2018), Organization Science (2009-2013), and Organization & Environment (since 2011). Faculty (Professor level) in Management Practice, and a member of the Economics & Policy group at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School, Dr Khaled Soufani holds a masters degree in Applied Economics and a PhD in Financial Economics.
Dr Soufani has published extensively in economics and finance in areas relating to financial management, corporate restructuring, M&A, private equity, venture capital and family business and the financial and economic affairs of small to medium-sized enterprises. His research also includes work on economic growth and innovation relating to the circular economy and fast-growing markets and economies. His work is widely cited and included in policy reports by organisations such as the EU, OECD and the Institute of Directors. His work has also been cited and published by the World Economic Forum. He sits on the editorial boards of a number of international academic journals. Before joining academia, Dr Soufani worked in investment banking in the area of bond and money market trading. Dr Soufani has been the academic programme director for many Executive Education programmes for major companies and financial institutions as well as government organisations.
University Senior Lecturer in Organisation Theory
Prior to starting an academic career, Dr Thomas Roulet worked in Debt Capital Markets on a trading floor in London, and for the Center for Entrepreneurship at the Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD) in Paris.
His research focuses on negative social evaluations (stigma, disapproval) and their antecedents (misconducts, scandals). His work has appeared in a variety of scientific outlets in management, including the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review and Academy of Management Annals, and more broadly in social sciences and sociology (Human Relations, Work, Employment & Society). His work on covert research received the Best Paper Award in Organizational Research Methods in 2017. He also published in practitioner outlets such as Harvard Business Review, and MIT Sloan Management Review, and has been regularly featured in media outlets such as the Financial Times, The Economist, The Washington Post, Bloomberg, The Telegraph, The Guardian, ITV, Die Zeit, Le Monde, France 24 and BBC Radio London.
Since 2020, Thomas is a trustee of the Society for the Advancement of Management Studies (SAMS), a UK charity encouraging research in management and governing the Journal of Management Studies. He sits on the board of various journals including the Journal of Management, and the Journal of Management Studies. From 2017 to 2019 he acted as co-editor in chief of M@n@gement – the first open access journal in the field of management, supported by the French National Science Foundation and the French Academy of Strategic Management. He previously sat on the editorial board of Work Employment & Society, the journal of the British Sociological Association.
Thomas’ teaching has also been recognised by Poets & Quants (listed among the “40 under 40 Best Business School Professors” in 2020) and Business Because (“Business School Professors to Look for in 2020”). In parallel to his teaching in the Business School, he teaches sociology in College, which earned him a honourable mention for the Supervisory Award attributed by the Cambridge Department of Sociology in 2020. Before joining Cambridge, he received a university-wide teaching award at King’s College London in 2018.
Thomas consults on a regular basis for a variety of clients in the non-profit and for-profit sectors around questions of diversity, uncertainty management, and wellbeing at work.
Research Associate, Centre for Strategic Philanthropy
Dr Shonali Banerjee joined the Centre for Strategic Philanthropy at Cambridge Judge Business School in February 2021. Her previous research focuses on emerging digital trends in philanthropy and giving, specifically through crowdfunding platforms. Shonali’s doctoral thesis “Intimate Technologies for Development: Microphilanthropy, Crowdfunding Platforms, and NGO Fundraising in India” explores the social funding gaps filled by digital philanthropy and whether new models of giving are actively changing realities for development actors. This work, along with upcoming pieces in Development in Practice and Third World Quarterly expand existing understandings of digital social capital and the marketisation of giving, broadening bodies of literature on information and communications technologies for development (ICT4D) and philanthrocapitalism.
Prior to research, Shonali began her career as a development practitioner by spending five years working for international organizations in the United States, Morocco, Thailand, and Cambodia. Her roles focused around training charities in digital fundraising, strategic communications, and impact evaluation. Most recently, she was the Research Development Officer at Queen Mary University of London, where she worked with faculty across all disciplines to develop proposals for the Global Challenges Research Fund. Shonali also currently serves as a Program Consultant for her family’s charity, the Banerjee Education Foundation. Shonali holds a PhD in International Development from the University of Sussex, and MSc in Development Studies from SOAS, University of London, and a BA in International Affairs and Political Science from The George Washington University.
Dr Simon Learmount
Business and Management Educator
Simon Learmount in a Lecturer in Corporate Governance at the Cambridge Judge Business School. His research interests are in the convergence of national systems of corporate governance; human resource management, especially its implications for organisational trust, co-operation and commitment; the Japanese corporate system; and notions of corporate ownership. Dr Learmount has been Director of Operations at Saxoncourt, and Director of Sales and Marketing at International Packaging. In 1998 he was awarded a Shimomura Fellowship at the Development Bank of Japan. Simon is a member of the Cambridge Corporate Governance Network.
