Born in the former Soviet Union, the exceptional pianist Kirill Gerstein is an American citizen based in Berlin. He combines the traditions of Russian, American and Central European music-making with insatiable curiosity and formidable skill. Among his many accolades he counts the Gilmore Artist Award, presented every four years to a pianist who, regardless of nationality, possesses broad and profound musicianship and charisma, as well as the ability to sustain a career as a major international concert artist. His typically energetic, vibrant and imaginative programme takes us from Chopin, Fauré, Poulenc and Liszt, to Schumann and Godowsky.
